At Heatherwood we strive to make the dining experience a pleasurable one.
We think about food a lot so that a great deal of planning goes into the moment a meal is served. The surroundings, for instance; we have invested in making our dining room look like a place where people will enjoy eating. The ambience, the positive messages etched onto the walls, the way the tables are set and of course, how the food is served and what makes up a typical meal.
We serve meals at times that residents tell us they collectively want to eat. We ensure all dietary requirements (religious, healthy eating, vegetarian) are stringently met and importantly we use fresh ingredients. Talk about going the extra mile, we certainly do when it comes to food. Hand-picked and delivered from Pinegers butchers in Cheam (by-passing the queues outside) and fruit and vegetables from Houghton’s of New Covent Garden are two of our regular sources of fresh produce. And that’s just for starters! We also bring in fresh cakes for high tea and residents can partake of a snack any time of the day or night.
And if a resident fancies an aperitif, glass of wine, sherry or beer with their meal, we will of course oblige.
Our chef works every day from 8am to 6pm to ensure everyone eats very well. And it’s no surprise that residents’ families regularly join them for a meal; the food is too good to turn down!
